FRASCONE RAVENNA ROSSO IGP

“Frascone” refers to the new collection named “Bandits of Rogmagna”, newly designed and released by Randi winery. “Frascone” was perhaps the most dangerous and vicious bandit active in Romagna between the end of 1700 and the beginning of 1800. “Frascone” knew for certain that if he ever turned himself in, he was going to be executed by the local authorities. When he was finally caught by the guards of the Count Giuseppe Manzoni di Chiosca at his properties in the countryside between Alfonsine and Chiesanuova, he chose to die fighting over being incarcerated and executed. “Frascone” the bandit lends his name to this red wine, a blend of Malbo Gentile and Longanesi grapes from selected vines normally used to produce Burson Selezione Black Label.

The appearance is ruby red, fairly compact, with a slight brownish tinge; rather dense and weighty. Legs are close together and slow-moving. The wine presents a good consistency. Rather shy on the nose, with delicate aromas of warm, ripe fruits, and a vegetal profile that reveals hints of cinnamon; a balanced alternation between fruit and vegetal notes. The decisive entry on the palate is characterised by dominant, though light, tannins, leading to a slightly bitter note. The midpalate profile features blackberry with hints of blueberry, soft prune, mature red fruits and a slight medlar-like astringency. The ever-present tannins, a characteristic of the variety, are dominant and balanced by woody notes. A slightly bitter and dry finish.
